The several ways to estimate the number of stars in our galaxy is
Firstly, the overall brightness of our galaxy is divided by the average brightness of a star.
Secondly, the mass of our galaxy is divided by the mass of an average star.
Both methods provide approximately the same result, namely about 100 billion stars in our galaxy.
